Directions:
I-94 North:
- Take the Metro Parkway exit
- Turn right onto Metro Parkway (heading East)
- Turn right on Jefferson Ave
- Turn left into Gino's Surf Lounge
I-94 South:
- Take the Metro Parkway exit
- Turn left onto Metro Parkway (heading East)
- Turn right on Jefferson Ave
- Turn left into Gino's Surf Lounge
Sailing Notes:
When sailing out of Gino's, sailors are advised to avoid the ice to the South
of the
launch, and use caution sailing offshore.
There is a river inlet 1/2 mile to the South (you can see a large rock jetty
at the opening).
This is a large body of water (Lake St. Clair is 25
miles across) and ice breakers keep a channel open to the East all winter.
Keep a weather eye open, and avoid sailing in strong offshore (North
or West) winds. There
have been many icefisherman airlifted from Lake St. Clair when
the wind shifted
offshore and the hut-boys
didn't notice the change in wind direction.
